Judd Waddell A-line/Trumpet Gown

Christina had been to and in many weddings and had a strong sense of the gown she wanted for her own day: a romantic but sexy dress that wasn't a traditional taffeta ballgown. At the same time, Christina knew that she wanted to enjoy the process of looking for a dress; she didn't want to rush it (so smart--this is one item you shouldn't be too eager to cross off the checklist). After trying on gowns from a wide range of designers--from David's to Oscar--she found this lovely Judd Waddell dress. It's a fit-and-flare/trumpet style (though a bit more A-line than some in this category). It features a chapel train, charmeuse sash and crystal brooch, and alternating bands of acelon lace, tulle, and silk. To me, the overall effect is soft, unique and just beautiful.

David's Bridal Lace Trumpet Gown

Julie's trumpet dress (David's Bridal's Galina) is pretty and sweet--perfect for an outdoor wedding. It features beading, lace in horizontal bands, a charmeuse sash and sweep train. Lovely.

Don't you just love the little ring bearer?

Monique Luo Tulle and Organza Gown

Jeni, a photographer based in New Hampshire, wore a beautiful and soft Monique Luo/David's Bridal dress (style number CH515) made from tulle and organza. I absolutely love the whimsical, vertical ruffle skirt--it reminds me of ocean waves.

I also love the email Jeni wrote me about her dress. In her words, it broke "every rule," including (as she listed them):
1) Plus size girls are not supposed to wear a puffy dress.
2) Large-chested women should not wear strapless dresses.
3) It's not very sensible to bring a HUGE puffy heavy dress and petticoat on a five-hour flight to Mexico, shrink-wrapped to fit on a carry-on.

"It was so worth it [to break the rules]!" Jeni wrote. I couldn't agree more.

Lazaro Ballgown

Jen's Lazaro ballgrown (Style LZ3806, from the 2008 collection) somehow manages to be fun, unique and classic all at once. The bodice was hand beaded on embroidered silk and the full drop-waist gathered circular skirt is made from tulle. The dress also features a sweep train. Love!

A-Line Gown by Monique L'Huillier

Nicole wore Monique L'Huillier's gorgeous Wallis, which is from the Fall 2009 collection. I don't think I've ever seen a bodice as intricate--stunning! I love that its modern, asymmetrical neckline is balanced by the softness and elegance of the pearls and crystals. The dress is made from ivory silk satin organza.

I must, of course, mention the shoes: they are Manolo Blahnik's D'Orsay pumps--from the SATC episode in which Carrie's shoes were stolen from her friend's party. (Luckily, Nicole's stayed safely on her feet.)
